Handmade Price McLaughlin Saginaw Texas Special TROPHY Saddle! This beautiful medium to dark oil saddle is inscribed on each of the fenders: G. HIGH POINT 1981 YOUTH 14 OVER. Branded in four areas with Price McLaughlin Saginaw, Tex, on each of the latigo holders and both stirrup fenders. This saddle has a 15″ Seat with a 6 1/2″ Gullet and QH bars. This saddle is in great shape. It has been used a little over the years but not abused. It’s value is greater because it is in the collector’s interest due to its CONFIRMED 36 yr age. Price McLaughlin is deceased and his saddles are very valuable. PRICE MCLAUGHLIN SADDLES are the worlds greatest saddles! Every Professional Cowboy around will tell you that he is the most famous saddle maker in history. His saddles are the most sought after saddles on earth today. They hold their value better than any other brand of saddle and always will. They ride better and last longer than any other saddle. To Price, leatherwork was an art. At one time Price had as many as fourteen people working for him in his shop and in spite of all the help, he never made the jump to a production type saddle. All saddles were handmade. You will enjoy the balance and comfort as well as close feel this saddle provides. On the left side the front corner dee ring is missing. On the other side the dee ring has rust. The leather overall is in very good condition and has been taken care of. The only issues I see on the leather are the front latigo holders have a slight bit of cracking on the leather. The horn has some rubbing most likely due to being set down on it when moving from horse to tack room. The stirrup hobbles buckles’ have some rust. The rawhide stirrups are 1 1/2 wide and wrapped with leather. On the left side there is a scratch on the leather skirt where your thigh would sit. The left stirrup leather that has the holes to adjust length has been cut. Between the two stirrups one has 8 holes and the other has 13 holes. This can easily be replaced if you need longer stirrups. The suede seat has lightly smoothed over time but there are no loose or missing stitches or rips.
